Project: Food Recovery Contact Information

Posted 13 June 2020

Covid-19 has caused an economic contraction and hardships around the world, which has resulted in a drastic increase in demand for food assistance programs. Food recovery apps and services are being inundated with requests for assistance, and at the same time food pantries are not receiving the food donations they need. It’s a double whammy: less food and more need at the same time.

Cogmint volunteers and workers are helping food recovery apps confirm the contact information of food pantries across the country so that when food donors have food available it can be quickly routed to the food pantry that needs it most.

For each food pantry or emergency food provider, Cogmint guarantees that 3 different workers call the location, ensuring accurate results. The food recovery service collecting and confirming food pantry information can then keep their phonebook up to date.
